Refreshed and Grateful: My Transformative Weekend at the Women Physicians Wellness Conference

by Ali Novitsky, MD

I recently had the privilege of attending the Women Physicians Wellness Conference (WPW) in Grand Cayman, an event curated by the inspiring Dr. Erica Howe.

This gathering brought together women physicians from across the nation to focus on leadership, career development, and self-care, all while earning CME credits.

A Sanctuary for Women Physicians

Set against the serene backdrop of Seven Mile Beach, the conference provided a perfect environment to reflect, learn, and grow. The half-day sessions allowed ample time for personal reflection and application of the strategies discussed. Morning mind-body workouts and built-in wellness activities further enriched the experience, emphasizing the importance of integrating self-care into our daily routines.

Empowering Sessions and Workshops

During the conference, I had the honor of presenting a session titled “Letting Go of What Is Not Yours.” We explored strategies to release burdens that don’t serve us, fostering clarity and inner peace.

Additionally, I led specialized yoga-strength sessions focusing on:

  • Preparing for Relaxation and Follow-Through: Techniques to transition from activity to rest effectively.

  • Forming Your Hype Squad: Building a supportive community to uplift and motivate each other.

  • Giving Yourself What You Need Right Now: Identifying and addressing personal needs in the moment.

These sessions were met with enthusiasm, and it was inspiring to witness the commitment of these powerful women to their well-being and professional growth.

Personal Highlights

Beyond the professional enrichment, the weekend offered personal joys. I cherished quality time with my partner, Mark, amidst the island’s beauty. Meanwhile, back home, both sets of our girls’ grandparents enjoyed premium seats together at a 76ers game, creating lasting memories.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

This experience has left me feeling blessed, grateful, and hopeful. It has reignited my passion to explore a future where I focus on quality over quantity, ensuring that I am present and fulfilled in both my personal and professional life.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you. I look forward to bringing the insights and energy gained from this conference into our shared endeavors.

All my love,
Ali
